So, this past week has been very busy. I made an interesting discovery. I discovered that by releasing stress you can lose weight so much easier! Since April my weight was almost at a stand still. This is about the same time that I started stressing out.

I try to have most of my life in my control, but one thing that I do not always control is my financial health. I seem to have this paranoia. I am like an ostrich. Yes go ahead and giggle but it is true. Ask my husband. When stuff gets over my head, I bury it in the sand and pretend it doesn’t exist for a while. Then eventually I need to poke my head up and that is when the stress starts. So that is what happened in April. I started stressing over paperwork that needed to be done.  The silly part is that it is not threatening paperwork, nor is is difficult to do, nor if I do it monthly, does it take more than about 30 minutes. Yup, that is it.

But. It. Scares. Me. Yup.. that’s right. This one simple task was overwhelming my subconscious and making it difficult to focus during the day and sleep at night. I would wake up in the night and be panicked by it, then shove it back in my mind during the day. Then the weekend before last, I had one of those nights and decided That. Was. Enough.  The coming week was going to be all about catching up this paperwork, getting it filed (with the help of my amazing bookkeeper) and moving on with my life. No more procrastinating, no more ignoring, no more putting my head in the sand.

And I did it!!! Yup, it didn’t kill me, it was NOT scary and I felt a ton of emotional weight lifted from my shoulders. I actually felt strange the day I realized it was all taken care of, jittery, giggly even…relieved. We had company last weekend and I enjoyed it, felt very relaxed and slept better than I had in months. I have vowed not to allow myself to get to this point again and just do this simple task every month.

I have a quote on my phone: “Discipline is doing what needs to be done, even if you don’t want to do it.”  I think I need to print this and put it on my desk in a frame. Good words to live by for so many reasons business and personal.

When I weighed in a Weight Watchers on Tuesday, I had lost 2.7 pounds! Yup, stress weight removed.  The block that was keeping me from losing weight, focusing on my life and health was gone. I expect that the next while will be quite successful on the scales without this barrier. So as they say with Weight Watchers.. this was a WAY beyond the scale win.

There are a couple links to websites here that I thought may be good for reference. I am not an expert in these matters so will leave it to someone else that knows more.  I also will have a guest in on my blog next week that has more insight into this topic! My first video interview on my blog.. it should be very exciting! Liz Underhill is a weight loss coach and I expect this will be a very interesting segment.

Do you have something in your life that is holding you back from moving on and achieving your own goals? If so, I highly recommend dealing with it, either yourself or by enlisting the help of someone else.
